Where Imagination Meets Intention

a Heart-Centered Waldorf Initiative

At Pacific Tides Education, we believe Waldorf education is not exclusive—it is a necessity for the healthy unfolding of childhood. Rooted in reverence for the whole human being and inspired by the rhythms of nature, our program is dedicated to bringing this education to families and children who may not otherwise have access. Whether you're a homeschooling parent, a family seeking enrichment, or someone looking for deeper guidance in a child's education, we are here to meet you with warmth, integrity, and imagination.

Our Intention

To provide accessible, developmentally appropriate Waldorf-inspired education that supports the academic, emotional, and spiritual growth of children from all backgrounds. We strive to preserve the essence of Waldorf pedagogy while adapting it to serve today’s families—especially those who have felt left out of traditional independent or private schooling models.

Our Story

Founded by longtime Waldorf educator Joshua Wheeler, Pacific Tides Education emerged from a deeply personal journey. Joshua began his work at a local Waldorf school teaching gardening, games, woodworking, and aftercare. It was during this time—immersed in the living, breathing world of Waldorf—that he entered the grades teacher training program at Sound Circle Center for Arts and Anthroposophy.

AFTER completing his WALDORF GRADES TEACHING certification, Joshua took on a combined 5th and 6th grade class AT HIS LOCAL WALDORF SCHOOL, eventually graduating both CLASSES through eighth grade. Those years were filled with storytelling, wonder, academic rigor, and GUIDANCE—the very heart of Waldorf teaching. It was a privilege and a transformation.

Now, with space to reflect on what is needed for his community, Joshua has turned his focus to a new calling: creating a philanthropic initiative to make Waldorf-inspired education more accessible and inclusive for homeschool families. Pacific Tides Education is the expression of that vision—a heartfelt offering to the next generation.

Guiding Principles

Child-Centered Learning

We believe education begins with truly seeing the child and building a curriculum that meets their developmental stage.

Affordability & Inclusion

Waldorf education should not be reserved for a few. We are committed to making our offerings financially accessible through flexible tuition, financial aid, Scholarships, and various program support.

Homeschool Support

We serve as a guide, resource, and steady hand for homeschool families seeking Waldorf-aligned mentorship and enrichment.

Living Education

Rooted in the wisdom of Rudolf Steiner’s insights and enlivened by modern understanding, our work evolves to meet the needs of today’s families.

In order for the students' development and the outer development of civilization to coincide, we need a faculty whose interest is not limited to specialized educational practices. Rather, this faculty must be fully involved in the broader aspects of life.
