HOMESCHOOL ENRICHMENT CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

TEACHING TO THE HEAD, HEART, AND HANDS

A WELL-ROUNDED APPROACH TO CHILDHOOD

EDUCATING THE CHILD'S INTELLECT, FEELING, AND WILL

MAIN LESSON

A Waldorf main lesson is the heart of the academic day, offering a deep and focused exploration of a single subject over a 3–4 week block. Each morning begins with movement, music, and recitation to awaken the child’s whole being, followed by the main lesson which integrates storytelling, the arts, and hands-on activities to bring concepts to life. Subjects such as language arts, math, science, and history are presented in rich, imaginative ways that meet the developmental stage of the child. Students create their own beautiful main lesson books, documenting their learning through illustrations, writing, and form drawing—making knowledge personal, memorable, and meaningful.

MATH AND LANGUAGE ARTS

Language arts and math unfold in harmony with the child’s natural development. In the early grades, the Waldorf method introduces letters and numbers through story, rhythm, movement, and art, allowing children to form deep, imaginative connections with abstract concepts. As the grades progress, language arts expand into writing, reading, grammar, and literature, while math deepens into the four processes, place value, geometry, and problem-solving. Both subjects are taught artistically and experientially, nurturing not only strong academic skills but also creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

LIFE SKILLS

Waldorf education nurtures essential life skills that serve children far beyond the classroom. Through daily routines, meaningful work, and hands-on experiences, students learn responsibility, perseverance, and self-reliance. Whether tending a garden, crafting with natural materials, participating in classroom chores, or preparing for seasonal festivals, children develop practical abilities grounded in real life. Equally important are the social and emotional skills fostered through collaborative projects, artistic expression, and respectful communication. Waldorf students learn to think critically, solve problems creatively, and engage with the world around them with confidence, curiosity, and care. These life skills—rooted in rhythm, beauty, and purposeful activity—support the child’s growth into a capable, compassionate, and adaptable adult.

TUTORING SUPPORT

Our one-on-one, small group, OR ONLINE sessions bring the warmth, creativity, and developmental wisdom of Waldorf education into the home space. Each tutoring session is thoughtfully crafted to meet the individual child, integrating academic support with artistic expression, imaginative thinking, and gentle rhythm.
